As we enter into fall, we enter into a season of: football, social events, holidays, basketball, and many other “get togethers” where food is crucial. How do we answer the age-old question of, “what will you be bringing to the party?” Let me save you some time. This spinach artichoke dip is seriously the easiest and tastiest appetizer or side you can make. The best part is that it takes about 30 minutes to put together.

So what all is involved? The ingredients are simple, it’s artichoke hearts, spinach, butter, cream cheese, sour cream, Parmesan and garlic. Hey I didn’t say it was healthy!

Serve it with pieces of this super tasty no knead beer bread recipe, that’s also extremely simple to bake!

I cook and serve this in a cast iron dutch oven. It gives off that rustic charm kind of look. Any dutch oven would work though. That way, if it’s made over the stove ahead of time, I can easily pop it in the oven to heat up! This artichoke dip would go great with some corn chips, or even placed in a sourdough bread bowl with crusty bread bits to dip!

This recipe is great in that you can add different types of cheese. I have added smoked gouda, extra parmesan, gruyere and, it would even taste good with some swiss. Play around with the recipe and find out what method works for you!

A few tips:

  • when making this bowl of deliciousness, make sure to heat slowly, to avoid scalding some the bottom of the dish.
  • Stir frequently to make sure that all ingredients are mixed thoroughly.
  • Use the best quality products you can find. Remember, with simple ingredients, you have to use quality!

The Spinach Artichoke dip can be prepared the morning off, and then warmed up in the cast iron Dutch oven pan in the oven, right before your guests arrive! This dish of deliciousness has become a staple appetizer in my home for holidays and special occasions and I always receive compliments!

Enjoy!
