More and more, people are looking into ways to rid their lives of toxic substances. One of the easiest ways to achieve this is by making your own household cleaners. There are a ton of recipes for cleaning solutions. Homemade glass cleaner is a perfect place to start.

Make Your Own Homemade Glass Cleaner

If you’re looking for a cheap, easy and non-toxic solution to your glass cleaning needs, I have the answer for you. Take the time and make your own glass cleaner at home.

With a few inexpensive ingredients, you can throw together this easy cleaner in no time. The best part? You don’t have to worry about toxic chemicals, or accidentally mixing the windex with the bleach producing a very toxic combination.

This recipe is made with essential oils and as such needs to be made in a glass bottle. High grade essential oils will degrade plastic quickly so it’s important that glass is used. The tinted aspect of the glass prevents the sun from degrading the essential oil.

Using glass bottles is also pretty way to store your homemade cleaner. In addition, cutting down on plastic is a great way to help the environment by keeping plastic out of the landfill.

The Glass Cleaner Recipe

The recipe for the glass cleaner is really easy. You’ll need only three ingredients:

  • Glass Spray Bottle – you can purchase these online
  • A Funnel
  • 2 Cups of White Vinegar – I buy this as bulk buying stores, but this is also available online
  • 2 Cups Water
  • 20 drops Lemon Essential oil – I purchase my essential oils from Simply Earth, they make high quality oils at reasonable prices.

How to Make This Cleaner

Using a funnel, simply combine equal parts vinegar and water into the glass spray bottle.

Add 10-20 drops of lemon essential oil (or another scent of your choosing). Mix until combined and begin using! It’s simple, cheap and completely non-toxic.
