How to Make these DIY Fall Room Sprays with Essential Oils
Essential oils are a great way to make scents and air fresheners for the home. These wonderfully smelling room sprays will make your home smell just like fall, and the best part is that they are non-toxic and easy to make too!
Starting with Essential Oils
When working with essential oils, it’s always important to be careful. Some oils can be “hot” which means they shouldn’t be put directly on the skin. So always use caution.
Also, be sure to use high quality essential oils, without any additives. I use Simply Earth Essential Oils. They are 100% high grade essential oils at a reasonable price.
Supplies You’ll Need
- 4oz Glass Spray Bottles – You can find these at craft stores and online as well.
- 1 Tbsp Rubbing Alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) – This is easy to find at grocery stores and big box stores, however, online is an option as well.
- Distilled Water – Find this in the water section at your local grocery store.
- Small funnel – These are easy to find online.
- Essential Oils – As noted above, I use Simply Earth Essential Oils, but you can use any high quality oil.
Putting Together Each Fall Room Spray
So how do you make these lovely room air freshener sprays? In just a few easy steps, you can enjoy these lovely room spray air fresheners that smell just like fall!
Step 1
With the help of your funnel, simply fill your small spray bottle halfway with alcohol. The alcohol serves as a “carrier oil” to the essential oils. Without alcohol, the essential oils would simply float to the top of the water and never mix. (Witch hazel can be substituted for rubbing alcohol.)
Step 2
Next, you’ll want to add your essential oils into the small spray bottles. After all the essential oils have been added, screw the top onto the spray bottle and gentle shake the essential oils and the rubbing alcohol to mix completely.
Step 3
Once your essential oils and rubbing alcohol have been mixed completely, fill the remaining room in the glass bottle with distilled water. Screw the cap back on and mix until combined. Use this spray around your home as a linen spray or air freshener.
